Meet Gülseren Çalkan

For nearly three decades, Gülseren Çalkan has worked inside the finance function of companies big and small — Turkish industry, international airport services, media, and now her own practice. A licensed Certified Public Accountant (SMMM) since 2004 and Independent Auditor (KGK) since 2014, she founded her independent firm Globalist Accounting Office in Levent, Istanbul in 2018 — the practice behind Galata CPA, her dedicated English-language service for international clients.

Gülseren started her career in 1998 at Tekofaks, a Turkish industrial group, where she spent over six years as a Finance Specialist — cutting her teeth on manufacturing, cross-border transactions, and customs. This became the foundation of a specialty that still sets her apart: foreign trade and customs regulation — an area most Turkish CPAs never touch.

After earning her SMMM license from TURMOB in November 2004, she moved into senior finance roles with international exposure. From 2007 to 2009, she served as General Accounting Supervisor at LSG Sky Chefs — the airline catering arm of Lufthansa — at Istanbul Atatürk Airport. From 2010 to 2018, she was Accounting and Finance Manager at Satış Ofisi Medya in Etiler, leading bookkeeping, legal tax declarations (VAT, withholding, corporate income tax), monthly and quarterly financial reporting, cash flow, budgeting, and audit coordination. In January 2014, she earned her Independent Auditor certification from Türkiye's Public Oversight Authority (KGK) — one of the most demanding credentials in Turkish accounting.

In February 2018, after two decades inside large organizations, Gülseren founded Globalist Accounting Office — her own independent CPA firm in Levent, Istanbul. Today, under the Galata CPA brand, she focuses on helping foreign entrepreneurs, e-commerce sellers, and international companies build successful operations in Turkey. She combines deep expertise in corporate tax, VAT, social security (SGK), and customs/foreign trade with something most Turkish CPAs lack: fluent professional English, fast response times, and transparent, fixed-fee pricing.
